Can an auto-entrepreneur builder get clients to pay for materials direct?

An auto-entrepreneur pays social charge and tax on turnover. If you run any building business a substantial part of the costs are materials. Is it legitimate to get the client to buy the materials (say via an account at a builders’ merchant) and for the builder just to invoice for the labour?
