Can a couple doing the same work register separately as auto-entrepreneurs?

My husband and I have recently moved to France. We are both English teachers but work from home - we teach online and on the telephone. We also design course materials. At the moment, we both work for an academy in Spain and all our work is based in Spain, although we are looking to take some private students in France.

We are both looking to register under the auto entrepreneur system and switch all our tax and social security payments on our earnings from Spain to France. However, we have been told that it is not possible for two people who live under the same roof to register as auto entrepreneur if they are both working in the same area. Is this the case?

We work completely separately, have separate students, projects etc. however, we both currently work for and would be invoicing the same academy in Spain. Is it possible for us to both register as auto-entrepreneur and if not, is there a way around this?

We understand that we need to have more than one invoice which is why in addition to the work we do for the academy in Spain, we will also be taking on some private students in France.
