Business type for an IT consultant in France?

I used to run my own IT consultancy firm in my native country Romania. Which is now pretty much put on the dead path (not closed yet though) due to the move in France, the plan is to transfer the business contracts to France.

This year I moved to south of France to live there. For the moment I have a holiday rental till like September to explore a little bit and see in a year or two where I may fit in to buy some property. So I don’t have a residence in France to say so, like a regular rent for now (a little bit more tricky initially to come in France as a foreigner and get a long-term rent).

In short I used to co-author books, do research, help deploying/implementing various projects or administrate IT infrastructures for companies around the world, especially US. So I’m looking to start a business in France and do the same thing here.

The auto-entrepreneur business, I’m not quite sure it fits me, as I may go above that 32,000 euros per year in services figure, e.g. in Romania the turnover was bigger than that. Maybe the Sole Trader Business – Entreprise Individuelle (EI) is better for me? I will be the single owner of the business.

I don’t sell anything like gear/equipment to need a physical office, pretty much all my work is done remotely. Since I don’t have a presence in France, I figure I will need at least a virtual office to get things started, I saw some business offers in Toulouse for virtual offices. And similar offers in Paris, Grenoble, etc. but would prefer something in the south of France as there I plan to live.

I understand French and speak some. Back in Romania when I setup the company, this was done through a firm providing such services and later had a lawyer deal with whatever changes were made to the company. As I read similar is possible in France.

Although the Romania company was a simple company with straightforward bills, I did have an accountant as that was required by law. In France this seems to not be required varying per the business form?

Apart from the few questions I’m also looking for someone providing a business registration service and expertise.
