I am new to the idea of starting a business in France. I have worked mainly in the field of development in bilateral and multilateral organizations. Since I moved to France following my husband (about a year ago), I have been focusing on expanding on my lifelong hobby and transforming it into a second career. So, I can call myself a translator now.

To start operating as one I am thinking of registering as an auto-entrepreneur. My first question would be is that a good business model for me (setting up on my own) and for the services I offer (translation, editing and language courses)? It seems from le Portail officiel des auto-entrepreneurs and from the forum discussions that this can be done online in a fairly short time. I must admit that I am still not familiar with all the abbreviations and the taxes that have to be paid in France but I am navigating through the same site for auto-entrepreneurs.
