Auto-entrepreneur or association?

My wife is setting up a new business as a Shiatsu Practitioner. She has a friend already doing this under the auspices of an Association, the friend is employed by the Association and draws a salary. Is this a cost effective way to proceed or would my wife be better off as an auto-entrepreneur professionnels libéraux. she does not expect to exceed the earning ceiling.
