Advice for property maintenance and renovation business?

My husband was a qualified electrician in UK and we ran our own business. He is also skilled in many other trades i.e. plastering, minor carpentry, tiling etc. He has been offered some work by a registered Artisan helping him on some of his bigger jobs in property maintenance and renovation on a part time / adhoc basis. Michael needs to register as an auto-entrepreneur so that the artisan can pay him.

Initially, he would be working for one artisan but may also work for other individuals directly in the future. He will not be carrying out structural or electrical work that require the 10 year guarantee. Is auto-entrepreneur the best regime? Which category should he register as? We want to keep the business simple and pay the taxes as the money is earnt so we hope that auto-entrepreneur is OK.
