I am a 65 year old American, receiving Social Security and Medicare in the United States of America. After completing my teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) certification in the coming weeks, I plan to relocate to France to start a micro-entrepreneur business tutoring business English.

  1. What happens to my United States of America Social Security income and Medicare benefits once I sign up the micro-entrepreneur business?
  2. Will I have dual Social Security numbers?
  3. Will I be allowed to keep my Medicare benefits as they are, even though I realise they are valid only while in the United States of America?
  4. Am I required to participate in the carte vitale system of France if I contract for private international health insurance from the United States of America?
  5. Will the income from US Social Security need to be reported in France?
