What do I need to do to set up business as a graphic designer in France?

I would like to set up business as a freelance graphic designer (design will include logos, brochures, invitations, web design, print management). I’m American, have been in France for 8 years, and have recently obtained my 10-year carte-de-sejour which says I can work. A large corporation has offered me work on an as-needed basis. I would work from home and this might amount to one or two days of work per week.

I may also do some freelance work for another designer, but I’m not sure yet. I’m only looking to work part-time for now, so think the 32,000 turnover limit for auto-entrepreneur would be fine for the time being. But I’m also hearing about portage salarial. Which type of business set up in France would be the best?
