Should I register for the stage de préparation à l’Installation course?

I have been an auto-entrepreneur in France since 2009 and my primary business activity is an animal carer - which is classed as an artisan, so I guess I will have to do the stage de préparation à l’Installation (5 day course), as it was not an obligation to register previously. Will the onus be on me to register and if this is the case once I do this will I then be told when I must take the course?
