Is REI a scam or a demand that I simply ignore?
I received a demand yesterday from an organisation called REI (Repertoire des Entreprises et Indépendants), in which they ask for 237,60 euros to register with them and to sign the enclosed paperwork. If this is not paid within 8 days, then the amount due will rise to 379,00 euros. I don’t know this organisation and when I did a search online, no listing appeared. However they gave their website address, purporting to be an online directory. I assume this isn’t an official demand so either a scam or a demand that I simply ignore?
I’ve also received quite a few catalogues from companies that I’d prefer not to receive. Does the registering body make details available to such companies? I’m wondering how people get my address and if I can stop these mail-outs by removing my name from some listings somewhere?
