Do I need a legal structure for a gite business in France?

I am currently setting up a gite in France. The gite stands within the confines of my property but is a separate building. The income from the gite would not be my primary income as I have a non-taxable UK income. I have registered the gite with the local Maire for tourism purposes.

  1. Do I need a legal structure or can I just submit tax returns based on the gites turnover?
  2. Must I register within one of the legal structure, i.e. micro-entrepreneur?
