Cancellation terms for English teacher?

I am an auto-entrepreneur under the service a la personne. I also teach English. I work as a vacataire for an English school. For our students we always warn them that cancellation of less than 48 hours means that they will have the lesson counted, I also apply the same system for my private students. I was told by a parent of a student that this is illegal to demand this. Can you advise please?
