Can I open two different businesses in France at the same time?

Is it possible to be entreprise individuelle au reel simplifie (which I am), and register as a separate micro-enterprise business for a completely different activity if you are changing careers?

For example, if you are a management consultant under entreprise individuelle au reel simplifié and you are wanting to open a completely different small business with a view to phasing the management work out, is this possible? It would not be financially worthwhile staying as a entreprise individuelle au reel simplifié for the small sums the new/different business would earn in the first few years.
