When can we register as auto-entrepreneurs when moving to France?

My husband and I are moving to France in May from the UK and want to start business. My husband is a website developer and I will be a freelance content writer. My husband is currently a sole trader in the UK and I am full time employed (leaving my job in May).

When can each of us register an auto-entrepreneur business in France?
Can we register a business in France from the UK before we arrive in France?
