What is the legislation on selling hand made goods?

I am currently working as an auto entrepreneur - services a la personne. I am thinking of making and selling luxury handmade craft items with purchased gifts/toys inside. These items are not intended for children under the age of 5. I need to know what legislation there is, what insurance, licenses I will need in order to start trading. The majority of the business will be done over the internet and occasional craft fairs.
