I would like to know if the European directive (Directive 2000/35/CE) known as the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act in the UK and la lutte contre le retard de paiement dans les transactions commerciales in France is often used by French businesses. I’m fully aware of the legislation in the UK and I have used it many times with success but I have a few questions about using it in France. As an auto-entrepreneur, can I use the legislation on a late paying business of any type Does the French interpretation of the legislation allow the addition of a late payment compensation charge as in the UK? Can you go back 6 years retrospectively to claim interest on invoices that were paid, but paid late? Lastly, what is the procedure in France for claiming interest on invoices that are, or were paid late?
