Taking UK work into account when calculating pension?

I worked for about five years in the UK before moving to France. So that is some 20 trimestres. In an estimate of my French pension carried out a few years ago, it only took into account the 30 plus years I have worked in France and so my pension was reduced proportionally because I hadn’t worked enough in France.

However, anecdotally, I have heard of someone who got her UK work taken into account. How would I go about researching this? In my head, I think that you have to have worked at least seven years in the UK and/or you have to have been born after 1953. I have no idea why I think that and have been unable to find any information.
