Sell a business that’s your home too?

We will shortly be putting our bed and breakfast on the market. This is our main home, but there are parts of it that are obviously for our private use and other parts that are letting rooms or communal rooms that we share with guests. We have spent some considerable sum improving our property.

When we started the B&B in 2004 we registered at the CCI and have a SIRET number, although we now pay our cotisations under the micro-social regime. Do you have any pointers as to what taxes we might pay when we find a buyer? We had thought that we would carry on the business until such time as we find a new owner, but I have it in mind that we once heard that it would be best to sell as a private house rather than a business.
