SARL or multiple auto-entrepreneur businesses in France?

I run a United Kingdom (UK) limited company as an information technology contractor, and work in the UK commuting weekly and paying for accommodation in the UK, my wife and young children live in France.

I currently pay UK income tax and national insurance on salary and dividends in the UK and my wife is registered as auto-entrepreneur in France billing the UK limited company. I am not currently fiscally registered in France but my wife is.

I’ve been thinking of either setting up as auto-entrepreneur myself in France and billing my UK company for weekend work and keep only my UK salary being paid in the UK (no dividends), or setting up a French société à responsabilité limitée (SARL) business and both my wife and I being employees of that, which in turn bills the UK company and expenses for travel. I believe I can pay UK national insurance on my UK income, and only income tax in France on that income.

Could you explain the tax and social charge difference of two auto-entrepreneur setups versus a single SARL?
