Must I have a separate bank account for my auto-entrepreneur business?

As a new auto-entrepreneur, it is necessary to open a separate bank account to receive payments by bank transfer from my client(s)? Or, can they pay me by bank transfer (or occasionally a cheque) using my joint personal account in both my name and my husband’s name? I am registered as an auto-entrepreneur in my name, which is the same name on my joint bank account.

Also, I registered on 4 October 2014 as an auto-entrepreneur and have started working. I expect my first payment from my clients to be in November. When do I need to make my first declaration? Is it October (this month)? If so, do I just declare 0 euros?
