How to normalize a new product for the French Market ?

Hello

We are 4 young entrepreneurs trying to export feather shuttlecock from China to the French market. We are based in Shanghia, China

Here are my questions:
- There is a very similar product which brand and brand only benefits from industrial protection. To what extend can we create a similar product without using their brand ? We plan to register our own
- We gonna have to test our product to match security requirements in France & the UE.
Do you know where we can find a laboratory to test our products ? Our product is very simple and a passing through the test shouldn’t be a big issue - hopefully
