How to finance a business in France?

We live in France and are currently looking into various business opportunities here. We are leaning towards an existing established business and do have some existing funds which to invest. However it is becoming apparant that in order to buy the sort of thing we want we need extra funding. We are unsure of the options available and how to go about looking into this and wondered if you had any advice? We are not even sure how much we could borrow or what the criteria is.
