How do I setup a shop in France?

Can anyone give me some advice on opening a shop in France? At the moment I am an auto-entrepreneur working from home repairing and altering clothes and soft furnishings. I find working from home quite difficult too many distractions etc. What I would like to do is rent a shop in our village, still doing my alterations but also selling, not only things that I make but stock along the lines of a discount store. Do I keep my auto-entrepreneur as it is? Do I need to register or re-register with anyone? Where do I start?
