How do I register a market trader business and also sell from home?

I want to register as a market trader to sell clothes / accessories that I buy to resell. I also want to sell paintings and sculptures that I create - from my own property, i.e. small shop and possibly via the internet. Which is the best way to go about starting a business in France? Should I complete a form to become an auto-entrepreneur and take it with me to the Chambre de Commerce?
