Going over the auto-entrepreneur business limit in France?

I moved to France with my partner (comme-maritalement) in 2011 and have been on auto-entrepreneur regime since 2012.  I’m UK national and all my receipts so far have come from remote working for UK business customers. I didn’t do much in the first few years (about 10,000 euros or 12,000 euros in each of the first two years ), third year was only 6,000 euros and we were about to run out of money so I decided to try and get a on site contract job in the UK as a last resort last year.

It took me four months to get my first three month contract job. I’d let my CV go dangerously cold since coming to France (I’m a design engineer in electronics and software ). Fortunately after the initial three month contract period on site in the UK I persuaded them to let me work mainly from home in France. I billed all this through auto-entrepreneur and just avoided going over the limit last year and will be just below the limit when I complete quarter two declaration shortly. That contract with the UK company has now come to an end.

I now have another contract about to start with a company in Ireland that is also letting me work largely from here. My expectation is that this will continue for at least a year, if all goes as expected.

I understand I now face a choice of régime réel or SARL. I am particularly concerned to know the implications for our household as a whole of the different options. I am concerned that my partner has officially no social contributions since coming to France, and actually still needs me to sign that we are living comme-maritalement to qualify for her carte vitale.

In reality we operate completely as a collective and I would not be able to work as I do without her support. I wonder if SARL will at least allow her role to officially recognised, i.e. admin, book-keeping,  even taking me and collecting me from the airport and her to get credit for social contributions in her own right. We obviously also care about the bottom line to the household monthly budget.

I realise there is no clearly defined question here. I’d just be grateful to hear any advice you have at this point.
