Gites and market stall as auto-entrepreneur?

We have 3 properties which we intend to rent out as gites over the summer and maybe long lets over the winter. My husband is also looking into setting up a market stall with a friend to sell tools and DIY equipment. I have been advised to register the gites as an auto-entrepreneur but I am not really sure if this is the best option? We are still in the process of renovating, would any of the costs of the renovations and bills be put against the tax via this route?

Also who would I go to register the business and get a SIRET number? My husband has been told that the tools stall would also be best registered as auto-entrepreneur but this can only be done in one person’s name, is this correct? Also where would they have to go to register the business and get a SIRET number?

I am totally confused as everyone seems to have different opinions so any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks
Pauline
