We need to earn some money and register with social security in France. I am a trained electrician in the UK, and I also can do plumbing and joinery. I understand I couldn’t start a business as an electrician in France without doing a course and my French language skills aren’t up to that. I would therefore like to set up business as a handyman, and my understanding that registering as an auto entrepreneur is the best option.
- Do I need to prove my qualifications or skills to work in this area?
- Is it best to do this online?
- Will my registration cover my fiancée and our two young children for social security and healthcare through the carte vitale?
- I may be able to do some work back in the UK for my old employers over the winter period. This is not likely to amount to anymore than a couple of months’ work. As I live in France should this be taxed in France and would it be OK to do this work as an auto-entrepreneur or would it have to be taxed differently?
