Can I re-register an auto entrepreneur business in France?

I started my auto entrepreneur business in mid July last year and I earned 17,384 euros total in 2014. I received a notification de sortie du régime in mid March, informing me that I stopped being an auto-entrepreneur on 31 December 2014.

I should have read that it would be calculated pro-rata, but I didn’t expect to have to change my regime because I thought it was calculated on the basis of an entire year’s earnings. I stayed at home January to July 2014 with my newborn baby, but was not remunerated. I am now quite confused about what happens next. I have spoken to the URSSAF and the auto-entrepreneur helpline, but they were profoundly unhelpful.

As I understand, I can close my business and become an auto entrepreneur again immediately so long as I have a different APE code. My activity has actually changed somewhat and is now more like editor. I actually perform a variety of communications related tasks, some translation, some social media management, some speechwriting. I am pregnant and due in October, so it is unlikely that my earnings for 2015 will go over 32,900 euros.

  1. Will this impact my entitlement to maternity cover from the RSI?
  2. Will stopping and starting again cause problems with my health cover?
  3. How do I declare my earnings for the period January to April 2015?
