Can a gérant of a SARL register as an auto-entrepreneur business here in France?

We were advised (perhaps wrongly) to set up a SARL business in France when we bought our property in 2012, as we eventually plan on running it as a Bed and Breakfast once it is restored. My husband is registered as the gérant of the SARL and is currently working on the property renovation, but we are still a long way off the completion. I would like to know if my husband can register as an auto-entrepreneur or be employed by someone else whilst being the gérant of our company?
